Air Traffic Control in HTML5

Recently, I came across this amazing GitHub project. What it is, is a simulator of a radar screen used by an air traffic controller to route traffic. It’s a fantastic example of canvas rendering and is unexpectedly enjoyable in the same manner of Papers Please.

I’ve taken a copy of the code, and hosted it here, with a slight twist on the GitHub version. Modern aircraft are fitted with a system known as Traffic Collision Avoidance System, known as TCAS.

Normally, TCAS alerts are not shown in the tower, but as the aircraft in this sim don’t have any intelligence and are assigned random altitudes, I found this a handy extra to avoid incidents.

Have a go in the simulator: it certainly conveys how difficult being an ATC controller is.
